Hospital Quality Initiative
IFMC, Iowa’s Medicare Quality Improvement Organization, is working with four select groups of hospitals to transform health care by improving quality of care, safety, and outcomes for their patients. IFMC helps facilities locate gaps in care delivery systems and identify opportunities for creating more efficient and effective care. Each of the improvement initiatives will focus on a unique area of patient care delivery.
Appropriate Care Measure
Achieve improvement on the appropriate care measures for heart attack, heart failure, and pneumonia.
Surgical Care Improvement Project
Improve clinical performance measurement results through the adoption of standard processes of care for surgical patients.
Systems Improvement and Organizational Culture Change
Improve hospitals’ readiness to adopt health information technology systems such as computerized physician order entry, bar-coding or telehealth.
Rural Organizational Safety Culture Change
Develop a patient safety focused culture and improve patient care.
Statewide Hospital Quality Improvement Initiatives
IFMC will work with every Iowa hospital to increase measurement and reporting for acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical infections and to improve their performance through process redesign approaches.
