Downloading the Sample Database

A sample database for MCMP-PAT is available in the forum for practices to use to get familiar with MCMP-PAT.  The file to be downloaded from the forum is a self-extracting executable file containing three files.  The sample database is named MXX0001_BY.mcmp and it comes with two other files: PATKey.msec and PATUsers.msec.   The PATKey.msec is the key file that will allow users to use the sample database.  This key is the same for all practices and it does not need to be verified.  Since the key is not unique for each practice, it cannot be used to open the database that contains your actual patients.  The PATUsers.msec file contains the user accounts.

NOTE
The sample database and its related files MUST be extracted into a folder/directory that is different from the directory where the database containing the real patients is stored.

1. Log On to the MCMP forum and view the list of topics.  Click on the topic "MCMP-PAT Files".

2. Click the Download link of the Sample Database.

3. A File Download dialog box will be shown.  Depending on your browser type and browser version, you may see a dialog box that is a little different than what is shown below.  In the dialog box , click the Save button.

4. In the Save As dialog box, save the file on the desktop.  The file can be saved in other locations as well.

5. Wait until the the browser is done downloading the whole file.  Once the file is fully downloaded, two things can happen: either the File Download dialog box will stay open or it will close without confirmation.  This depends on your browser settings.

5-a. If the dialog box is still shown, click on Run.

Depending on your security settings you may get a Security Warning dialog box.  If this happens, click on Run.

5-b. If the dialog box automatically closes after downloading the file, go to your Desktop or to the folder where you saved the file and double click on the file MCMP_SampleDB.exe.

6. Next, a WinZip Self-Extractor dialog box will appear.  Change the location specified in the Unzip to folder field if you want to extract the files somewhere else.  Otherwise, leave the default value and click the Unzip button.  After a successful extraction, a dialog box will appear showing the number of files unzipped.  Click the OK button to close the message box.  In the WinZip Self-Extractor dialog box click Close.
