| Installing .NET 1.1 Service Pack 1 |
| After installing .NET 1.1 and MCMP-PAT, it is highly recommended to apply the
latest service pack. The service pack corrects known bugs, problems, and adds
new features. Windows 98 users who are getting error messages when running
MCMP-PAT must download and apply the service pack 1 for .NET 1.1. The following
steps walk through the process of obtaining and installing the .NET 1.1 framework
service pack. 1. Open an Internet browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape Navigator, Safari, etc). 2. Download the most recent version of the .NET 1.1 framework from this site: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=A8F5654F-088E-40B2-BBDB-A83353618B38&displaylang=en .
If the link does not work, copy the text and paste it on the address bar of
opened browser and press the Enter key.3. After the page has loaded, click the Download button. ![]() 4. In the File Download dialog box that appears, click on Save. The dialog box that appears can vary depending on the browser version. ![]() 5. In the Save As dialog box, save the file on the desktop. The file can be saved in other locations as well. ![]() 6. Wait until the browser is done downloading the file. ![]() 7a. Once the file is fully downloaded, and the dialog box is still shown, click on Run. ![]() 7b-1. If the dialog box automatically closes after downloading the file, go to your desktop or to the folder where you saved the file and double click on the file NDP1.1sp1-KB867460-X86.exe. ![]() 8. In the next dialog box click on Yes. ![]() 9. In the user license agreement screen click, I accept. ![]() 10. Wait until the installation is complete. ![]() 11. Once the previous step is complete, another dialog box will appear. Click OK to finish the installation. ![]() 12. If the installation asks you to restart your computer, first make sure that you don't have any document that is waiting to be saved (e.g. a Word document in the middle of being modified), then click on Yes. Your computer will then restart. ![]() 13. After rebooting, the file NDP1.1sp1-KB867460-X86.exe on your desktop may now be deleted. |
